Barbacan IGT Rosso

The vineyards are located in the historic area of ​​Valgella, municipality of Teglio, between 350 and 450 meters above sea level.

The position is South-Southeast.

Nebbiolo 100%

The soils are franc-sandy moraine acidic. The grat variety of rocks and minerals including gneiss, mica schist, phyllite, granite, quartz diorite give the typical aromatic content of this Nebbiolo of Valtellina.

The harvest takes place during the second week of October. And it has done manually in baskets of 20 kilos, loaded on the shoulders, perform up and down the stone steps and stone walls before reaching the cellar.

The winemaking starts with the stemming and gentle pressing of the freshly picked grapes; the fermentation and the maceration on the skins has no fixed duration but it comes, by tradition, taking place without changing the natural balance of each vintage waiting patiently for the full swing of the sugar into alcohol.

The wine is aged on the lees into oak barrels for 9 months. With the first warm days of June begins spontaneous the malolactic fermentation that ends by lowering night temperatures in September.

Following 3 months in bottles.
