The Motalli winery is located in San Giacomo di Teglio in the province of Sondrio. It is a family farm, now in its fourth generation with Renato Motalli, the current owner. 

The winery was founded in the nineteenth century. The wines come from grapes from their own vineyards (2ha), grown directly in the Valtellina viticultural tradition and Vineyards are located in the locality of Spina, historically renowned as a subarea of Valgella zone, one of the six subzones of Valtellina Superiore.

The terraced vineyards, with a traditional plant called rittochino, are located on the south side of the Rhaetian Alps in the municipality of Teglio at an altitude between 350 and 500 m.
The company's annual production is about 15,000 bottles.
