Valtellina Red wine DOC

Rosso di Valtellina DOC is the name that identifies the production of DOC wines come from the Retiche Alps slopes. The area is about 200 hectares. The wine is produced in areas with deeper soils and in locations with altitudes until 700 mt above sea level.

The Rosso di Valtellina Doc is made largely from Nebbiolo grapes (called locally Chiavennasca), but it is also possible to add other local  grapes as Pignola and Rossola for a maximum of 20 percent. The Rosso di Valtellina Doc is a wine for every day lunch or dinner. Its color is bright ruby red, and aging it takes reflexes grenade. The perfume is intense, fine and persistent, with notes of fruit and maraschino cherry, spicy tones that recall the viola.

The taste is dry, soft and fresh enough, with slightly tannic aftertaste. If you want to consume the wine in the year following the harvest, it will be of medium body, but if you want to left it to age, for 2 or up to 6 years, its taste will become more structured and with more character.
