Nebbiolo 100%.
We believe the RISERVA vineyard to be one of the best of the small winery.
Of the 4.6 hectares divided into 18 different plots, in terms of the direction it faces, height and ripening of the grapes, this is the one that stands out.
It is located between the districts of Sondrio and Montagna in Valtellina in the Grumello zone called Dossi Salati.
The plants express an enormous clonal variability, typical of a vineyard that is 80 years old.
The plot consists of 11 small terraces that face south, lying 550 metres above sea level and with slopes of up to 70%. The vines are raised à guyot and soft-pruned.
The terrain is what remains of a moraine, with the soil prevalently sandy and with acidic reaction.
The grape harvest, which is done manually, took place on about 15th October, in small 8 kg crates.
The winemaking process includes the grape being removed from the stalks and crushed very gently; fermentation takes place in steel with a long maceration of more then 30 days.
Ageing is effected for 24 months in a single French Allier oak barrel of 20 hectoliters, then in the bottle for a further 12 months prior to going on sale
