Ca’ Brione is a vineyard in the locality of Fracia in the commune of Teglio where, in 1986, for the first time, the grapes for this white wine of exceptional structure were harvested.
Tre Grapes: sauvignon, chardonnay and incrocio manzoni with the addition of nebbiolo-chiavennasca.
The vineyard: selected nebbiolo-chiavennasca and incrocio manzoni vineyards in the commune of Trevisio at an average 400 metres altitude facing southon shallow, sandy soil.
The vinification and the maturation: the bunches of sauvignon and chardonnay, picked by hand on 27 September, were left to dry in wooden boxes until 10 October, when the incrocio manzoni and the chiavennasca were harvested. The vinification was carried out separately by the white wine method with a gentle pressing and temperature control (maximum 22°C); half of the must was put into new French barriques and half into once used French barriques. The blending took place after 8 months, and this was followed by cold, sterile bottling.
The wine: Ca’ Brione has a keep golden colour and a full, complex bouquet wuth fresh and fruity, musky and spicy hints which shade into notes of exotic fruits; the flavour is full, balanced and elegant, and very savoury with a pleasing aftertaste of fruit and vanilla. It can keep well, and improve with time.
Optimum keeping: 5 years in bottles stored horizontally in cool. Dark conditions.
Serving temperature: 14°C.
FOOD MATCHES: white meats, patès, terrines, oalantines, finefish and shellfish.
